Hi Guy's,
I've noticed recently that a lot of people are asking how to make screenshots of the video that show the time etc, I've spent some time explaining to people on an individual basis on how to do this, therefore I've decided to make this post.
You can either use Media Player Classic or VLC player. I use both as to cover cross formats that each program wont play. So makes things easier. You can download both below.

Media Player Classic

First off we will start with Media Player Classic.
Step 1
You need to open up your video file in the application as so. If you cant manage to do this, you shouldnt be on a computer :) haha

Step 2
Go to "File", and then click "Save Thumbnails".

Step 3
This will then allow you to name your thumbnails, and also choose the options of what size you want the picture to be, such as 1024 pixels, Finally you can choose how many images you want to be picked up off the video, such as 4 pictures along, by 4 pictures down, so in total 16 pictures.
I must note that I have noticed that on some files, using the maxium number of images on both horizontal and verticle causes the program to crash.

Step 4
Finally save your thumbnails to your chose place, I have a folder on my desktop so they are easy to find when uploading and posting on the forums.
Your screenshot will be something similar below.

Next is using VLC Media Player.
Step 1

First you must open up VLC, and go to the settings tab, and then preferences. I am not going to show you the screenshot to do this as you should be able to find it yourself!!! :).
Then once the preferences have opened, click on the Video Tab, and you want to set a destination for your image captures to be saved. See below

Step 2

When your video is playing, go to the Video tab, and select Screenshot. This will save a screenshot of that current image on screen at that specific second. And will produce a message ontop of the video saying where the shot has been saved, and a thumbnail of that shot, see below.
You must do this each time for a screenshot. It is repetative to do, and I advise for longer videos, you speed the video up,

You will end up with a image as below, and remember you must do these steps in VLC each time to get mutlipul screenshots.

Final Note
A good Screenshot of a video consists of around 5 to 16 shots, depending on how long the video is, this you must judge yourself. You want to shot the action of the video, and not a blurred image, if say the camera is been moved.
The best tool to use is Media Player Classic, as it automatically does the hard work for you, but for some video files, you will have to revert to VLC.
Finally, when hosting your screenshots online, do not used a banned host, as no-one will get to see the shots,

These are easy and quick to use, and also precode your links for you, all you need to do is copy the text from the box that says
"Thumbnail for forums & Message Boards:"
and post in into your topic, you will not need to make any further additions or alterations to make this work.
