Hi Everyone,

Just a quick update, may be looking to do another server move to compact things down more. Server host forgot to mention I'd be on a 12 month contract, till after the sale went through!

Im resolving this and hopefully they'll let us compact the servers more. I need to upgrade the network hardware to allow the forums & database to run smooth at peak times. :)

This means that the majority of Garv's sites (including Forums & Blogs) may be affected for up to 72 hours during the move(But will let peeps know when this will happen). freeporndumpster.com and playfulspace.com will not be affected.

Also looking to have peeps start using FPD(freeporndumpster.com) more within the next few months.
FPD seems more stable and faster since we moved hosts.

Sponsorship money has died off a lot with the recession and the growing bandwidth bills (at start of the year) almost took us out.

Not sure whether to setup one of those "cost of a cup of coffee / bottle of water" donations. Ive seen a site with a little monthly percentage progess bar in the top corner from user donations. Would that be a good idea?

Maybe hire some high society ladies to run a DS cake stall :mrgreen:

I have discussed this with another member here over a coffee, though both of us are business people (this only helps financially, but we both agreed), you should have a "members only" section for paying members, I am a member on another forum that does this, they have stacks of (paying members), though their site is considerably larger than this one, I still think it could work, have a separate color for financial members, and a separate area etc...
The fee would be up to you, I think if I remember rightly, I paid like $18 - $20AUD and that is a once only, lifetime fee.

I for one would be happy to pay it, it's a small price to pay for the effort made here.

Maybe send out a mass pm and see what response you get.

Thanks for your response Dman, yes it is a bit tricky bring in a paying members section for this board when it has pushed itself as 'free porn' for so long. Guess I was looking more for a 'tip cup' sort of setup, where peeps throw a buck in here and there without any obligation to do so, but rather because they are feeling generous at that point in time.

Maybe have an incentive prize draw, where people that donate for the month have a chance too win merchandise from the DS store.

No rush for anything to happen yet, as still working to drop the costs down. Will take your input on board and maybe scope out a few other places also for more ideas.

Maybe try get some of the models involved? A personalized picture or quick video as well as DS merchandise?

Go the donate button, add it to all the sites (blog and all), I wouldn't be in a hurry to give stuff away though, your trying to cut costs, giving stuff away won't do that, your better to give them a discount voucher, it then gives them a prize, and a incentive to purchase something at the same time.

Think about it ;)

It's a win, win, win situation.

Though if you do decide to go down the prize path, hit me up and I'll see what I can drag out of the closet to help ;)

What suxs is force of habit I keep clicking the Blue E icon and then freak out when all the sites time out and then go '
