Hi All,
We have moved Dumpster Sluts and her sister forums over to new servers.
The server costs to sponsor fundings in the past several months, just wasn't viable.
We get a lot of traffic to the forums between 3pm and 8pm CST (Central USA Time).
I would like to hear from anyone on the forum at these times on how the board is performing compared to the past few months?
Thanks
~Kalgor

Thanks Spike, non peak at the moment is about 2 to 3 seconds for me.
Will have to see what fortune the next peak period brings.

I honestly don't think there is much more you can do tweaking wise to speed it up, I haven't seen this place running so smoothly in ages!
The only slow things are the ads, but they are well needed :)

Thanks Cole, should I ask the Advert people if I can tweak their servers?
lol
Im still testing, If it makes it through todays peak hour I will be happy.

haha, you know they could probably only dream of you tweaking their servers, imagine the bandwidth they would go through, not to mention the load they would have, then again it would depend how complex their advert database is!
what sort of upgrade/downgrade did you guys make?

I'm not sure what time it is in US now, but I'm finding the the morning here in aus around 6-8ish I'm often being told the sever is too busy and that I can't get on, and the pages are taking 10-15 seconds to load, my posts aren't loading and I'm often being redirected to them.

Yes around 6am to 8am in Oz is the peak hour time on the servers. We will be moving to new hosts in a few weeks, as we are in talks with a few hosts and the sorts of deals they can offer. As past hosts were costing a mint and the creditcard is maxed out.
Damn you recession!
I will see if there is anything else I can do to help during peak hour.

Not sure if this is a problem with the new hosting or not but I've noticed a bunch of double posts happening lately.

Hmm this could be a result of server lag at peak time and people hitting the button twice.
I have switch the server to a different mode and see how if it handles better at peak time.

I shall let you know how it handles tomorrow morning for me then. :)

I've been phone surfing all morning and seems to be okay! Not slower than normal for loading on my phone, haven't had a double post or been redirected to any of my posts.

Hmmm it is taking about 6 to 7 seconds for me at peak time and usually about 1-2 seconds off peak.
Im yet to do any double posts, could be a caching issue. Damn you Gremlins!

would there be a benefit in using openDNS?

although opera has been a cpu hog lately, 50 - 60%
Server CPU is at 30% (which is excellent)
Serverload is 1.40 (which is pretty good 1.00 is average)
RAM is 75% full
HDD IOWAITs 0%
User Connections 60%
hmmm thinking it might be a slow down between site and database.
As database server is hardly breaking a sweat.

Page loads at 3-5 secs.
Posting at 8secs
Page refresh 3 secs
CPU at 2%
Ram at 53%
Not that the last 2 give you much info,,,but I thought it might make you jealous

lol well they were server stats not personal PC stats. We can try running the sites off your machine and see what happens

Hi All,
Just made another tweak, to try and reduce the post time during peak hour.
Im getting about 3 to 8 seconds to post these messages.
Could you let me know again, how it is performing.
Hopefully within a month we'll be able to go back to the old hosts. If there is still a lag.
lol well the re-edit took a second.

Managed to find the bottleneck, between the forums and the database, will be working on it today.
*Update:
Looks like I will be having to schedule an up-coming weekend of downtime and merge the two racks of servers on to one big cabinet and have a fast 1Gbps switch installed.
