I just got a call from a friend saying Greensboro is going to run out of gas tomorrow...I don't know if this is true, but it'll mean no more vehicular transportation...and no Bus to school....what the fuck are we going to do?

maybe it's just me but i think it's highly improbable if not impossible to have an entire city run out of gas in a day. you'll be fine.

No it's not going to just run out in a day, it's been running out for some time now...it's at over 3 dollars a gallon..

The gas prices in Kansas City jumped 40 cents today. We went from $2.60 to $3.00

Yeah, well....Greensboro is fucked....no gas means all these fuckers are going to have to walk to work, which means a lot of people are going to lose thier jobs because it's too far to walk.

Right now I'm visiting some friends outside of Detroit, and regular unleaded here is 3.16 a gallon, I'm considering buying a fucking mo-ped.

Moped is an excellent Idea. What do they get like 30 miles to the gallon?

Just saw these prices here in Nebraska
-87 octaine / $3.38
-90 octaine / $3.27
-91-92 octaine / $3.52
And the worst part is, the gas attendant told me that tomorrow morning it goes up another $.10 at 8 A.M Then at 4 P.M. it jumps another $.04. This is getting to be bullsh*t. That fuel that people are getting now, has already been purchased, there's no way it should jump up in price until we purchase more. That's when some sort of increase should happen. Not off of stuff that was bought at $2.25/gallon.This is freakin' ludicrus on what's going on. Thank the saints that I have a full gas tank in my car, hopefully will last me 2 weeks like it has been. Argh!!!! I'm done typing before I start to become really obscene. Hell, I drive a work truck all day. WTF's going to happen with our jobs? We depend on them to carry equipment. I'll be damned if I'm towing a trailer full of cable on a reel, while riding a bike!

Well, the gas where I am is not too high... But I drive 50 miles a day round trip to work...

I have two cars, Grand Am, and a Yukon Denali... Winter is coming, and the Denali comes out of the garage.

In short I'm fucked! lol

OPEC President sends US Energy Secretary condolences & assurance in the aftermath of Katrina

OPEC Conference President has today sent a message of condolence to the Government and people of the United States of America following the devastating hurricane which struck parts of the Southern States of the country earlier this week, causing enormous loss of life and property. ”Our deepest sympathy goes out to the families and friends of all those who lost their lives or who have been injured in this natural catastrophe of unimaginable dimensions’’ the statement signed by the Organization’s President and Kuwait’s Minister of Energy, Sheikh Ahmad Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah said.

In the message addressed to the US Secretary of Energy, Samuel W. Bodman, Al-Sabah assured the US that “OPEC Member Countries will continue their ongoing efforts to ensure that the oil market is well supplied with the crude oil it requires and stand ready to consider whatever other ways they might be able to assist.’’

He added that “the OPEC Conference will be discussing, at its forthcoming Meeting in September 2005, additional measures that may be taken by the Organization, within its means, in this direction to ensure, to the extent possible, stability in world energy markets, particularly oil market stability which is so important to sustained economic growth and the advancement of global prosperity.’’

Al-Sabah further reiterated the commitment of OPEC and the readiness of those of its Member Countries with sizeable remaining spare production capacity to further boost production levels to fill any supply shortfall resulting from the effects of Hurricane Katrina, to customers that call for it, adding that “OPEC stands ready to assume its responsibility and to work with others for the stability and security of the oil market.’’

Aside from pure fucking evil human greed in the stock market, this happens pretty regularly after major hurricanes. Hell After hurricane Hugo gas went from 71c to about $3 a gallon. Just gotta ride the wave out a bit and things should get start toning back down if you wanna call it that. None the less Still gonna hurt to fill my tank in the morning :(

My suggestion is to run a diesel on cooking oil! if theres no gas that will work just as well especially if its mixed with a slight ammount of white spirit...and best of all its cheap and enviromentally friendly:D

then when the do run out of gas you will be the only one still driving, and not paying a great deal for the privelage.

only problem with cooking oil is the smell :(

seems the US is now paying almost as much as Australia for petrol, gets worse when you look at the UK prices they're paying $6.81572 per US Galon. Australia is about $4US/Galon

Blackhawk_996
1st September 2005, 11:42 PM

i'll bet i go home to find Australian prices have gone up :(

I actually only have a push bike so it's never been a worry for me, but can understand the constant drain that increasing prices makes.

they're sending petrol from Europe to the US at the moment. don't know how the companies are going to make their money back when they can charge double up here & they're getting double the standard trans atlantic shipping costs. V-Strange

regular unleaded is now at $3.40 / gal and expected to hit $4.00 over the holiday weekend in my area. while this is not extremely high to what citizens are paying in other countrys, it does represent a 100% increase over prices only 9 months ago, and people here don't have the money for it. this will result in a decrease in consumer spending -- which is one of the key driving factors in the US economy. quick and dirty: the US is headed for a depression. if you're in the US here's my advise: grease up , bend over, and grit your teeth. also -- it hurts worse if you struggle.

in the mean time please enjoy your free porn! :|

in the meantime,
one of the best cars for the future is the toyota pruis (http://www.toyota.com/prius/index.html?s_van=GM_TN_PRIUS_INDEX)

but they can only make 250,000 per year!!
the surge in interest caught them by surprise
prices are bound to increase with the demand

true, but gas is flamable, and no one's complained yet :D (except the ford pinto)
and with 50 mpg who cares?

[to be candid, when gas hit $2.50 / gal i pulled my mountain bike out of storage and ride to work and school. i filled my tank in the middle of july which lasted untill monday, and then i filled just before prices rose. 7/8 of a tank right now. people laugh at me for riding my bike, but i laugh back when i hear them bitch about spending $100 a week on gas]

I have friends in atlanta georgia who said gas is $5.80 a gallon there now. Now that is crazy my friends. That hurricane has wreaked havok on our fragile petroleum network.

My freind is a member of a petrolum board here in KS. He told me that in the meeting he attended yesterday they said that oil prices will go down to $50 a barrel in a month or so, but gas prices will go up to at least $4/gal. by Nov. He also said that the gas price might not go down at all after that. Thank god my car gets 40mpg.

Also Pres. Bush has a bill in waiting to open the US oil reserves, If it passes oil prices will fall. On the news tonight the spokesman for KS oil Companies stated that there was no reason for the price gouging that is taking place. There are 70 billion barrels in the reserve and another 700 billion in the ground. he also said that yes eventualy we will run out of oil, but prob not for another 100 years or so.

2nd September 2005, 06:30 PM
the other big problem with oil running out is that it's needed for building of roads, tyres, all plastics, and well pretty much everything that we use that isn't organic or metal. even fucken shampoo! going to be an interesting world in about 25 years.

i love the episode of the simpsons where they have an electric car that says things like

"if you drive me, everyone will think you're gay" LOL!

prices are getting to be about 3$/gallon here in Texas but we have a refinery down the road in corpus christi fortunantly. Now most people are feeling the pressure from driving to work....I deliver Pizza's....so my work is litterally driving. So I'm feeling the pressure ten fold, its eating into my tips, which is really how we make our money. Its gonna start getting rough. I think I oughta just start delivering on a motorcycle, or get a hybrid so I can acutally save some of my tips for myself.
