There's no way they could see out the window - it was light inside and dark outside. It would have acted much as a mirror. My guess is they were looking at it trying to determine if anyone might be outside, but there's no way they could see.

Seems strange to me that there is no more to this. Was our intrepid cameraman interupted (as film appears to cut off when there is still action to be had)? Did he not think to return the next day & go for gold?
