ok i'm not too sure how i'm gonna be able to say this and have it be coherent but i'm gonna try so here goes.
Key.
MB = MegaByte
Mb = MegaBit
GB = GigaByte
TB = TeraByte

in the yes or no game blackhawk asked if anyone knew how many MBs there are in a TB and how many MBs in a GB. i said that there are a thousand MBs in a GB and a million in a TB and i think i'm right. the reason that i think i'm right is the prefix Mega means Million, Giga Billion, Tera Trillion so Mega Byte literally means 1 Million Bytes. but then The-Man said that there are 1,024 MBs in a GB. and i also think that he's right because when your counting in binary you get 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, etc. but i can't remember whether that's talking about bits or bytes and since there are 8 bits in a byte... i'm really confused. can some one please help me?

1 Byte = 8 bits

You're both right, the two ways are acceptable in computing.
But the answer of The-Man is more accurate.

Hope that help you

Not surprisingly, this has led to a great deal of confusion.

well atleast i'm not the only one.

and thanks for the info. that page explains it quite nicely.
